This club is my club- this club is your club- this club belongs to every single member. This is how I feel. I have not met all of the members of this club, I have spoken to a few via telephone and email. What a wonderful group of people. This club needs all of these people.
Mike and Peggy Casper where I purchased I bracco are wonderful people who you can tell really love and care about the breed. They have been incredibly helpful to me.
Dan and Lane Conrad, Dan has gone to Italy several times, ( I need to marry that man - only kidding Lane) and has meet Judges and breeders. The Conrads strive so hard to maintain the Italian standards, and have acquired so much knowledge.
Theresa Young, when I mentioned to her that I was thinking of possibly traveling to Europe to obtain a puppy invited me to stay with her, and offered to travel with me. So wonderful and kind.
Then there is Amanda, who in the world would not stand up and applaud this strong young women. She truly did take the bull by the horns, or the bracco by the ears to get things rolling. Through all her efforts you can see her passion for the Breed. I'm sure there are so many other dedicated people out there that I have yet to encounter.
If we all reach out to each other in friendship, support and keep the lines of communication open, what a fantastic club we will have. We can agree or disagree, we are all adults and understand that agreeing to disagree is what makes the world and life interesting.
What I am asking is please for the sake of this breed, the club and all the wonderful folks involved, is to work together, to inform all the members of what is going on, to ask for input, hold elections, make motions according to AKC and UKC rules of order and to have a great club, have fun and make so many new friends along the way.

Thank you for listening, this is just one more opinion..

Hello all. Just wanted to post to see if anyone has heard anything about the new bracco club. Last I checked there were 44 member of the club which has $2529.05 in membership dues. I received an email from Amanda Inman on December 29, 2007 indicating an upcoming meeting:

"Hello.
The next BICA meeting will be held within the next few weeks. Shirley Darnell and I will be sure to keep you updated, and give you a date and time as soon as possible. There are a few major issues that need to be addressed. I've listed them below so you can review them and have ideas for the meeting.

1. We need a logo. A preliminary logo has been attached. This by no means is permanent, but it is a starting place.

2. We also need a studbook. We'll need a registrar to keep the pedigrees, take registration, and maintain the book.

3. BICA needs to choose a standard. All of the Bracco Italiano standards are extremely similar, but we need to adopt one -- or blend the best aspects of all of them.

4. The Board. There are 3 Board vacancies. Nominations can be sent to Shirley Darnell or addressed at the meeting.

5. We need to establish committees. There will probably be 4 major committees: hunting, conformation, rescue, and a one for the Annual Meeting.

Thank you for your time. Amanda Inman"

I'm not sure if I missed this meeting??? Thought the club would have a lot of motivation from some very enthusiastic members (by the tone of all the emails that were flying around cyberspace some months ago!) but I have not really heard anything else. Does anyone have any updates? I know there is a new website www.braccoclub.org but not much information posted yet (still being set up?).

Let's have some fun. Start posting pictures of your dogs and fun stories of your bracco's on the yahoo group site. Or on this forum. I'm sure we all have funny, sad, exciting, touching stories about our braccos. Let's share that with each other. Anything from show wins to hunting? New litter announcements? Or those who have a new bracco puppy. How about assistance or help (if needed) with the bracco gathering in 2009? There are lots of good discussions we could be having. AND this is a great way to get to know each other without the emotions and disagreements that may or may not be associated with setting up the club (electing officers, selecting standards, setting up commitees). Let's get the ball rolling!
Valerie
