Hi My name is Lucello (Lucky) and my new family are Steve Horn, Who is a Professor of Animal Science at the University of Wyoming, and his wife, Margaret Spearman who is the President of the Spearman Company. I will live with them in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Steve promises tto make me the best damn hunting dog Dan and Lane have ever seen! We all had a great time getting to know each other.

Lane and Dan,Lucello (Lucky) is doing great. We can’t believe how well he has been socialized and housetrained at less than eight weeks of age. You guys did a wonderful job. He traveled well, letting us know when it was time to stop. We stayed in Grand Junction on Saturday evening and he did not appear to be stressed in any way. He slept with us, again letting us know when it was time to go outside. His play solicitations at 3:00 a.m. were cute, but unwanted. He is getting along very well with our adult Labrador Retriever. They even sleep together.I took him to the veterinarian yesterday (Monday) for a check up. I have enclosed the invoice for your records. He is in excellent health. They wanted to repeat his first series of immunizations as a precaution to his first ones not being effective at six weeks. He will get the next round of shots in a month. Thanks again for being such conscientious breeders. Lucello is off to a great start. We’ll send you some pictures very soon and also keep you posted regarding his progress.Best regards, Steve Horn

Lucky (Lucello) is one of the best dogs I have ever owned. I love the breed and regret that I did not discover it years ago. Genetically, he is the most birdy dog I have trained. He lives for birds. I have a coup full of pigeons (some of whom have been worked with Lucky for months) and a pen full of pheasants and chukkar partridges that I have been raising. Lucky loves the gun and has never missed finding the birds I have planted. We are still working on whoa and the forced retrieve. You were right in that the breed is very sensitive and responds better to positive reinforcement than to punishment. I have had very poor results in attempting to use an e-collar on him. So, I train him the old fashioned way with lots of praise and pieces of hot dogs.
